How it all started
When Charles and Elisabet Asker couldn’t find the kind of cozy coffee shop they were looking for, they decided to create it themselves. In 1996, they opened the first Espresso House in Lund, Sweden, laying the foundation for what would become Scandinavia’s leading coffee shop brand.
A new way of enjoying coffee
Espresso House offered something completely different from the historical Swedish traditional café back then. It was a unique, cozy and welcoming atmosphere, simply a new way of enjoying coffee for Swedes.
Quality and Passion
Charles and Elisabet founded the company on two important pillar stones: quality and passion. And that culture is still strong as of today.
In the beginning, they baked everything in their own kitchen from their own family recipes.

Today you can find us in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Germany.
Espresso House is a part of the world’s biggest coffee family JAB Holding BV and has grown into the leading premium coffee shop brand in the Nordics with 500 Coffee Shops across Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Germany.
