Espresso House: invests DKK 55 million in its employees - salary increase for all employees due to expensive winter.
As of 1 January 2023, Espresso House has set aside approximately DKK 55 million for a salary increase, corresponding to an increase of DKK 10 in hourly wages for each employee. The wage increase is not an inflation aid as such, although CEO of Espresso House Group, Anssi Thureson, admits that "the timing is fortunate in the midst of an expensive winter".
Group CEO Anssi Thureson explains that the reason for the salary increase is that, as a leading player in the industry, the company wants to offer a competitive salary.
"We want Espresso House to be an attractive place to work. For many young people, we are their first employer; and we want them all to have a good start to their careers. At times of war on the European continent, increasing inflation and huge uncertainty, we are going the other way and investing long-term in our most important asset: our people. So, we've taken this decision because we believe it's the right thing to do and because we know it will secure our business, short term as well as long term."
The large Nordic company wants to show its employees that they are valued, and that Espresso House wants to invest in them and their well-being. At the same time, Espresso House hopes that this bold move will make it the most attractive place to work in the industry.
